Zwift’s Massive 2025 NYC Route Expansion

Zwift’s Massive 2025 NYC Route Expansion

Zwift’s latest map expansion adds 31km of new roads to their NYC map with 12 new cycling routes and 3 running routes making it their biggest map expansion in over 5 years. How big? From my estimates, it’s over 10-1/2 hours of riding and 1-1/2 hours of running so there’s plenty to keep us busy. Great news for those of us in the northern hemisphere as the temps drop heading into fall and winter.

Their new map expansion coincides with Stage 4 of Zwift Unlocked Tour – a new version of the Tour of Wattopia – adding variety with weekly routes to knock off along with group rides where we can double our XP points and also earn a Zwift Unlocked urban kit.

Zwift’s version of NYC has a futuristic take but there’s a mix of old and new while riding through Brooklyn Bridge and old subway tunnels to the elevated sky bridges above Times Square.

Just like their previous NYC routes, there’s no shortage of both punchy and long climbs. While the route elevation profiles look flat from afar, there’s plenty of climbing with nearly all the new routes.

Their new Power Segments add sprint challenges throughout your ride with 5, 10, and 20-second-long segments where it’s all about power vs time (like previous sprint segments). Your current, average power for the segment is displayed along with your 90-day and 1-year PR adding another fun way of improving those short burst, peak power outputs.

Here’s all the new routes in one convenient graphic so you can get an idea of what’s in store:

Hope to see you out there on some of these new routes and Zwift Unlocked group rides – happy riding!
