Garmin Sleep Coach now available on more Garmin smartwatches

Today, Garmin rolled out new software updates to hosts of Garmin smartwatches adding the Sleep Coach feature which suggests the optimal amount of sleep you should get on your next night’s sleep based on your sleep history, activity history, heart rate variability, as well as any naps taken throughout the day.

The Sleep Coach feature was originally introduced on Garmin’s Venu 3 and vivoactive 5 smartwatches and is now available on the fēnix 7 and 7 Pro, epix (Gen 2) and Pro (Gen 2), Enduro 2, tactix 7 and 7 AMOLED, MARQ (Gen 2), quatix 7and 7 Pro, D2 Mach 1 and Mach 1 Pro, as well as the Forerunner 255/265/955/965 Series of watches.

The sleep recommendation starts with a baseline sleep target based on your age and then takes in those other factors to suggest the amount of time that you potentially need for tonight’s sleep to optimally rest and recover. For instance, if your sleep quality was poor the night before, it may suggest more sleep tonight.

The sleep recommendation can also change throughout the day based on workouts which may increase your sleep need as well as any restful periods such as naps which would potentially decrease the amount of sleep needed tonight.

Along with the Sleep Coach feature, they’ve also added a new multi-sport auto transition mode which allows for touch-free, automatic transitions during multisport events like triathlon, a lap undo feature which allows you to discard a lap if you accidentally pressed the lap button, a running track database which allows for automatic track detection when the watch detects you’re on one of the available tracks, as well as a Jump Rope activity.

Additionally, the Forerunner 165 will also be getting these new features in a future update (with exception to the multi-sport auto transition since it lacks multi-sport functionality). No word on timing but stay tuned for an update when it’s officially released.

So go forth, update your watches, and then go to sleep! 😉
